Imagine...Harry Potter!
Students from Germany, France and Turkey (15-18 years old) work creatively on the topic “Harry Potter”. We are looking at various ways to use our imagination to deal with one of the most successful literary phenomena of the present. With our partners, we will deal with creative approaches such as writing a new ending for “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, designing merchandise items for the novels, writing a cookbook for the Hogwarts community, or designing spirit animals for ourselves according to Hogwarts’ traditions
This project will work across a number of subjects including Modern Foreign Languages, IT, Arts, and Ethics.
AIMS
The project aims at the development of skills in the following areas:
- Communications
-IT / Informatics
- Development of Literacy
-Writing Skills
-Design
- Languages
-Teamwork
-International and intercultural Cooperation
We want to encourage our students to work independently and reflect on the importance of lifelong learning.
Because of this difficult period due to the pandemic of Covid 19, our project is a good way to maintain European ties and prevent students and teachers from distancing themselves.
It will be a good way to pool our teaching practices and to allow a European opening to our students.
The richness of this project is based on the diversity of the students who will participate. Some of them have general training, some have technical training and some have vocational training. So our students will learn to “think out of their box”.
WORK PROCESS
Taking into account the school calendars of the different European partners of the project, it is going to run for about half a year until June.
STEP 1:
Introduce students + form teams (students from all schools are in each team): Gryffindor - Ravenclaw - Hufflepuff - Slytherin –January 2021-“icebreaker” activities, emails/ letters, video conference.
STEP 2 :
Within the time frame February – June 2021, each school will decide on one creative activity the teams will work on (such as writing a new ending for “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, designing merchandise items for the novels, writing a cookbook for the Hogwarts community, or designing spirit animals for ourselves according to Hogwarts’ traditions).
Every production will be uploaded on e-Twinning and shared between the project partners.
Within the project assignments the students should work independently on their own as far as possible to help them become independent lifelong learners.
EXPECTED RESULTS
We want to foster enthusiasm for modern foreign languages, creativity, imagination, and a wider understanding of other cultures.
The students should be enthusiastic about working in European and international settings and be interested to continue on this path on their own, as the project is an opportunity to embrace open-mindedness and overcoming and reflecting prejudices
The project is also a great way for them to share their cultures and to develop human values with other young European citizens.
Having put our students in multi-national teams will have forced them to make the necessary efforts to communicate in the English language and will, eventually, have improved their communication skills in English as a lingua franca.
The multidisciplinary nature of the project will allow the pooling of different European teaching practices.
